Council Support

Every year the Council makes donations to local voluntary bodies which are located within the parish.  Section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972 allows us to make these donations and the amount that can be given is governed by the number of people  that are on the electoral roll.

In the year 2012-13 the Electoral Roll of the parish numbered approximately 3803, which meant that expenditure allowed under this heading was a maximum of £25860.  The actual expenditure made during the year under this heading was £4710.

Friends of Leckhampton Hill and Charlton Kings Common £250;

In Bloom for Warden Hill £300

Citizen’s Advice Bureau £250;

Warden Hill Primary School £210

1st Warden Hill Scouts £200.

The largest donation was to the Brizen Management Committee (for Brizen Young People’s Centre) - £3500.

Anne Regan, Vice Chair of Brizen Trustees comments about the work of the Centre:

The Brizen Young Peoples Centre.

Our Centre for Young People is situated in the Brizen Recreation Field on the Up Hatherley Way.

We have a very good history of communication and working with Young People over the last 16 years. We now put our new Centre to much good use letting it out during the week for many organisations and younger children's parties etc, this income allows us to employ good qualified Youth Workers.

The sessions at Brizen with Ben Evens our qualified Youth Project Leader is now extending to include relationships with the International community, funding has been applied for hosting our Italian partners in March 2015. There was a most successful meeting with Italian group leaders in August of this year when they visited they Brizen Centre they were much impressed with our facilities !! We are also In touch with visitors coming in October from Germany.

The Centre keeps in touch with the local schools and arranges leaflet drops to encourage attendance. Our younger group who meet on Friday afternoons at 4pm have had a sailing and canoeing weekend recently and we join up with other local youth groups for such events.

The senior group has done a lot of good work on positive behaviour and this has led to an interest in helping to run our junior group with good results.

We are fully supported by the Parish Council and take this opportunity to thank them for all the interest and financial support they have given to this community project.

The Trustees are always grateful for any help and interest shown in our work at the Brizen so please contact us if you would like to join our team to help promote this very worthwhile cause.
